Financial support and Return on Investment
Depending on the country and region, various aids are available to encourage citizens to invest in solar energy. It should be noted that, even within the same region, regulations evolve regularly in this area. It is therefore almost impossible to exhaustively list all the aids for each country and region. We will take the example of Wallonia, in Belgium, to illustrate the depreciation of a photovoltaic installation. For other countries and regions, the principle remains similar.
Since January 1, 2024, the compensation mechanism has ended for any new installation commissioned from that date. Old installations will be able to continue to benefit from it until 2030. However, there is still the Rénopack system, a zero-rate loan for renovation work, including the installation of solar panels, for an amount ranging from €1,000 to €60,000. Access to this loan is subject to certain conditions:
- Being a property owner in Wallonia
- Have overall taxable income of less than €100,400
- Call a professional for the work (preferably a RESCERT certified professional)
To obtain an accurate simulation, we recommend that you use the simulator set up by the Walloon Region.

As an example, we ran a simulation with an integrated 5 kWh battery, which allowed us to increase the self-consumption rate. The higher this rate, the faster the installation will pay for itself.
